The Golden Isles Sailing Club had another event...our annual BBQ and fireworks viewing at Dock 1 also at Brunswick Landing Marina...I estimate over 40 were present to eat freshly grilled (by Chair Kevin Heying and Race Chair Dave Heine) hamburgers and hot dogs...and an ample supply of beverages supplied by our club.  Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great event...Had the best seat in the house to see the fireworks...They did not disappoint..biggest show I have seen...not to mention the crowds...some of our lucky members spent the night on their boat instead of fighting the traffic!

We are pretty much taking the month of August off as far as club activities go.  However on Tuesday, September 8 we will meet at Ember Restaurant again for a dinner meeting with speaker.  Greg Zarus, our Vice Commodore will give a presentation on a cruise he made this spring to the Bahamas.  The event will be held in the Gallery, the same room we had in a previous meeting.  We do need a head count, so please sign up...there is no charge for the event, but ordering will be from the menu and drinks are also ordered individually.

Also Ed Reynolds, member of both GISC and America's Boating Club of the Golden Isles issued an invitation for an event sponsored by the ABC.  The title of the event is "Weather Wisdom for Coastal Boaters" featuring Andrew Shashy, Senior Meteorologist for the National Weather Service out of Jacksonville.  It is a free event on Tuesday July 21 at the University of GA Marine Extension at 715 Bay St in Brunswick.  It starts at 6:30 for some socialization with the presentation at 7:00.
