Golden Isles Community Sailing Center
The Golden Isles Sailing Club is working toward strengthening the community sailing program that was created several years ago. Our goal is to have a dry storage site, crane, landing and building for meetings, instruction, gear storage and socializing. The site would support the Club, the high school sailing program, youth sailing and the Community Sailing Center. The attainment of these goals are still on the horizon, but the Club is currently working toward acquiring a suitable site.
The Golden Isles Sailing Club supports the local youth sailing programs through coaching, boat repair and maintenance, organization and numerous other details associated with teaching sailing and young people. Several week-long programs are conducted each summer with young sailors learning to sail in various sailboats like the Optis, Laser, Open Bic, Club 420 and others. Dedicated members of the Golden Isles Sailing Club have participated for years in these programs.
Please visit the Golden Isles Community Sailing Center website at www.gicsc.org for this year's schedule. Programs are held at Brunswick Landing Marina, Dock #1, unless otherwise noted.

High School Sailing Teams
The Golden Isles has two high schools, Brunswick High, Glynn Academy that have sailing teams. The teams compete in Club 420 sailboats in the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (SAISA) http://www.saisa.org/. The Golden Isles Sailing Club supports the high school sailing programs financially and through coaching, boat repair and maintenance, regatta organization and numerous other details associated with competitive sailing and young people. The Brunswick High and Glynn Academy teams often train, travel and practice together, but compete as separate teams. Their training waters are in the East and Turtle Rivers. One of the goals of the Golden Isles Sailing Club is to support area high school sailing programs in an effort to expand interest in sailing to future generations.
Volunteers are needed to assist in nurturing the sailing program. Club members are asked to get involved! There is a real need for people to coach, mentor and help administrate the program. If you would like to get involved please contact: Pam Heine pjheine@bellsouth.net or David Heine dwheine@bellsouth.net.
