We had about 24 people for our Dinner with Program event September 8 at the Ember Restaurant in St Simons. Greg Zarus gave a very interesting presentation on a cruise he made in his Catalina 36 from February 22 to April 28 to the Bahamas. Understand it was quite a change in the number of boats there when he first arrived to the departure due to a reduction in fees charged to cruise.
Dave Heine gave a schedule of upcoming races, encouraging more boats to compete in this very low pressure, casual format. The schedule is highlighted by the GA-FL Ocean Challenge Race/Cruise on October 24 from St Simons to Amelia Island. I understand that a number of our boats will be in this race. If you are interested, notify Dave and he will give specific info. It is big fun just to participate in this 26 mile course with an overnight most will spend at Fernandina Harbor Marina.
On November 1, we have planned our annual Chili Fest at 6:00 at the American Legion Hall on St Simons. Plan to bring your own chili dish to enter the competition for the best chili. Or bring a covered dish to go with the chili. Please register so we can better plan...the club will supply beverages.
