Spring!!!
Spring has sprung in the Golden Isles! Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and temperatures are rising. The Golden Isles Sailing Club has several events planned this spring. Our second race will be on April 12th (the first race on March 15th was well attended and very sporty with 15-20 kt winds). Those that are interested will meet at Silver Bluff Brewery afterward to hear all the tall tales and yarns. All are welcome to join the racers there at approximately 3 PM.
There will be a happy hour and club meeting on Wednesday April 16th at 1509 restaurant in downtown Brunswick from 5:30 until 7 PM. Many will stay for dinner afterward. There are also many other restaurant choices. Please register if you plan to attend and make reservations if you plan to stay for dinner.
The annual Coastal Cup race from Fernandina to St Simons will be on April 26th. Racers will cruise to Fernandina on April 25th and enjoy a night there. This is a fun race (really more of a cruise) and anyone with a boat can participate. Reservations will need to be made at Fernandina Harbor Marina if you wish to stay there. Contact Race Chair Dave Heine for more details and to register.
The final spring race will be on May 31st. There will be a club meeting at Brunswick Landing Marina from 5:30 until 7 PM that evening. We will have a speaker, Dr. Abby Sterling of the environmental group Manomet who will talk on the importance of the Georgia Bight (that part of the south Atlantic from Charleston to Cape Hatteras). Please register for all of these events on the GISC website.
I hope everyone enjoys this Spring and I hope to see everyone at these events.
